Issue: 

I believed a phishing email to be valid, so I clicked on the link and entered my credentials. Is there any danger to my data?

 Cause: 

You received an email believing it to be legitimate and provided your credentials in the link provided. Subsequently you discovered that it was not legitimate.

There is a strong likelihood that your data is is at risk. You have provided your log in credentials to an unauthorized requestor.

In addition, other username and passwords, such as personal email and banking software, that are stored on that computer are also at risk.

Solution: 

  • The first step to resolving this is to conduct a complete virus scan of the computer to ensure that there was no virus or malware deposited on your machine.
  • If the scan finds any malware at all, clean the machine.
  • The second step, after cleaning, is to change your Mac ID password and all other passwords that are stored on your computer.
  • Once changed, your data will once again be safe.
