You have updated your preferred first name in Mosaic but your display name has not changed in Teams or Outlook

Description:

Your chosen/preferred first name in Mosaic will automatically become your display name in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, etc.) but it may take a few days for this sync to occur. 

Solution:

  • Check that your preferred first name is correct in Mosaic.  Instructions on how to check and update your name can be found here:  Preferred Name Update Across McMaster Systems – What You Need to Know
  • If your preferred first name is listed correctly in Mosaic but is not showing correctly in MS Teams, it may take a few days for the sync to occur.  Steps you can try to have your preferred name show up quicker in Teams:
    • Sign out of your Teams desktop app by clicking on your avatar on the top left and select Sign Out.  Then sign back in.  
    • If this does not work, you can try clearing the Teams cache by following the instructions on Microsoft's webpage
