 Power BI Desktop: 

Power BI Desktop is a free application that runs on Windows computers. It is designed primarily for creating and publishing reports. This version is available at no cost to all staff, students, and faculty. With Power BI Desktop, users can create reports for personal use or export them for others.

  • Availability: Free for all staff, students, and faculty.
  • Usage: Create and design reports.
  • Download: Download Power BI Desktop. No license is required to get started.

Power BI Pro License:

Power BI Pro is the licensed version distributed at the University. This license enables content creators to publish and share dashboards and reports with other Pro users.

  • License Requirement:
    • To create a dashboard to share with others.
    • To view a shared dashboard

    • Sharing Power BI Files: To share Power BI files, you can save the files from the Power BI Desktop application (not the browser) and share the saved .pbix file with users.

    • Please note: Students are not eligible for a Power BI Pro License

      There are costs associated with Power BI Pro licensing.

      Please submit  the Request for Power BI Pro License form available on portal to the UTS Service Desk to request access
