MFA App Install

Once installed on your smartphone or tablet: Open the Microsoft Authenticator app, tap the plus icon on the home page to add a new account. Choose "Work or School account," sign in using your McMaster email and password. 

To remove/reset the connection on the Microsoft Authenticator App - Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone and remove any existing McMaster accounts. To do this, tap on the McMaster account, then tap the gear icon in the top right corner and select "Remove Account." 

 After you've removed all McMaster accounts, tap the plus icon on the home page to add a new account. Choose "Work or School account," sign in using your McMaster email and password.

The app can be configured to use either a push notification (most convenient) or a verification code (most secure).   •  A hardware token is a small fob that provides you with a six-digit code that changes every minute and is used as your second factor.

  •  SMS text messages can be used to send a 6-digit code to your mobile phone, then entering that code at log in as the second factor.
