This article provides a brief list of acceptable and non-acceptable devices for the Reznet-IoT network. If you are unable to connect to the 

Reznet network with your device, it is because it does not support a wireless security method called WPA2-Enterprise. The Reznet-IoT 

network supports certain devices without WPA2-Enterprise, please read below for more details.


  • If you are having issues with using ethernet ports, you can follow the instructions for Netreg.

Compatible devices: 

  • Fire-stick
  • PetCube
  • Kindle Readers, Kobo Readers
  • Smart Televisions
  • Gaming Consoles such asXbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch

To add compatible devices to Reznet-IoT, please submit a request form with your name, MacID, Mac Address of the device(s), Residence building name and room number.:   Reznet-IoT-Form

Devices that are not compatible

  • Wireless Printers are not supported and cannot be connected to the network in residence.  Printers can be used by connecting USB from printer to computer.   More information can be found here Printer Guide for McMaster Students
  • Home Assistant Devices such asAlexa, Amazon Echo Devices, Google Home etc. are not supported.
