Resolved - The issues affecting Microsoft services and applications appear to have been resolved.

Monitoring - We are aware that members of our university community may be experiencing issues accessing various Microsoft applications and services. This disruption appears to be part of a broader Microsoft Azure outage currently affecting users across North America and beyond.

Microsoft has acknowledged the issue and is actively working to restore services. They have initiated a rollback to a previous stable configuration and there are early signs of recovery. Microsoft estimates that "full mitigation" should arrive "within the next four hours."

We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Scheduled - McMaster will be upgrading the main equipment that connects the university to the Internet and to partner organizations such as Hamilton Health Sciences, St. Joseph’s Healthcare, and Mohawk College.

To complete this work, there will be a brief interruption to Internet service while connections are switched to the new equipment.

When:
Sunday, October 26, between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
This is the maintenance window. The actual outage will be very short, but extra time is reserved in case unexpected issues arise.

Impact:
During the brief outage, Internet access, and connections to partner organizations and cloud services will be temporarily unavailable.
